Did you see this article in the Denver Post yesterday? For the last several years, in Colorado, most of the attention in this fast and feverish real estate market has gone to Denver. Denver real estate sales have pretty much led the country in most every category when it comes to the home selling and buying market. Why? One good reason, the population growth in Denver has grown incredibly fast. From 2010-2015, Denver's population grew 13.1%, from 603,421 people to 682,545 by 2015.

Move over Denver! Lone Tree, Commerce City, Broomfield, Castle Rock, and Lochbuie are out-pacing Denver's population growth! Lone Tree at 19%, Commerce City at 17%, Broomfield at a 16%, Castle Rock at 15%, and Lochbuie rounding out the final five at a 14% population growth rate between 2010 and 2015.

What's bringing folks to these areas? The simple fact is that they all have room to grow, offering affordable homes and apartments to newcomers. Communities closer to the mountains, surrounded by other communities experienced much slower growth rates, which makes sense. No where to grow!

Denver Metro Map From a Realtor's perspective—

These communities are excellent alternatives for our home buyers clients, particularly Commerce City. Commerce City is located northeast of Denver, wraps around the Rocky Mountain National Wildlife Refuge and stretches to the Denver International Airport. Really a great location overall-- A web of highways easily puts you in downtown Denver in about 20-30 minutes, Boulder in about 30-45 minutes, and if work or play travel is a part of your regular schedule, the airport is a super short commute that will add hours to your life!

Commerce City's newer home developments, like Reunion, offer a wide variety of mostly single family homes with some townhomes and condos. Many price ranges, even on the single family homes, typically start in the low to mid $300's, Yes, $300k! Hard to find a home that starts in the $300's anymore!

I recently helped a wonderful family purchase a resale single family home in Commerce City. They had relocated here from Long Island, NY last year. We began our home search in February and really had exhausted our search in other communities, mostly because the prices were pushing them to their maximum comfort range and they were forced to compromise on key criteria that was important to them as a family. I introduced them to Commerce City, we toured the area and a few homes, new and resale, they found one that exceeded their criteria, we presented a strong offer and won the bid!

Commerce City and all of the other noted communities offer home owners growing local and state healthy economies, good schools, a variety of housing options, and of course, all that the beautiful state of Colorado offers! Great weather, more sunny days than San Diego, and the Rocky Mountains as our backyard!

Thank you!
